Noise on Laptop headphone output
I use a laptop (Acer) which is only a few months old to play music DVDs for church worship services. The video is looped out to a projector and the audio is looped out through the headphone output, converted to RCA, then inputted to the VCR audio input on a pioneer receiver. The problem is that when using this laptop a rather loud hum is introduced to the sound system. This hum is present even when the input source is switched to another source such as audio tape or CD. The only thing that silences the hum is to pull the plug from the headphone output. Is this some sort of a ground loop problem? The laptop and sound system are plugged into power strips. The problem did not surface with a Toshiba laptop that the Acer replaced. Any suggestions? thanks
Dave
