Firefox doing a "Ground Hog Day" on me!

I have a desktop and laptop both running Firefox
and I am only having this problem on my desktop,
so I am certain it's related to something on the desktop...

Firefox keeps wanting to update itself to version 5.1.03

First, I get a message it wants to upgrade. I let it.

After I close Firefox and restart it, I get a message
saying something prevented the software from fully
upgrading. So, the software does a FULL DOWNLOAD,
I install the update and all is well for 2-3 days....

...then the same thing starts happening again. It
says that Firefox want to upgrade to the same version,
it doesn't install right the first time, then does a complete
download and install and all is fine for another 2-3 days.

Any idea what may be going on?

Ron - I'm running Firefox v5.0 (1.0.7) on both my laptop and desktop with no problems. Neither have given me any indication they wish to upgrade to a new version. I have even tried to find an available update on both and received a message saying I had the latest version.

Did you upgrade directly from the mozilla site or through the ff browser itself?

EDIT: Strange, my browser will not let me update to 1.5.0.3, but I can do it from the Mozilla site...

This morning I updated both my desktop and laptop to v1.5.0.3 directly from the Mozilla site. I'll give it a few days and see what happens.

You can always go to the advanced settings in Firefox and disable autoupdates...

Just make sure you stay on top of the Firefox security situation... maybe put in a weekly calendar entry to remind you to do a manual update check to see if there are any fixes you might need.
