How can I get an extra USB "header" inside my case?

I'm trying to hook up a card reader, and its only connection is an internal "header" plug. Well, my motherboard doesn't have a USB header, so I need to find another solution.

I figure I have two options:

1. Cut off the existing connector and splice in a conventional USB plug, and snake it out to the back of the case (or find a pre-built adapter).

2. Find a USB card that has a USB pins on the inside. Does anyone know if these exist?

I've gone the first route before, though my card reader came with an adapter.

See if the following would work....

As for option 2, I've not seen USB card with header pins on it, but they very well may exist.

How about...

3. Find another card reader that uses a USB plug.
