need advise on monitor

Dell's 2005FPW is now at $420 shipped but I'm also thinking of the BenQ FP202W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ATT=BenQFP202W)
at $450 shipped. Latter has 8 ms response time but only has 1 year warranty unlike Dell's 3. Can anyone chime in on this please?

If you can live with a 19" display, here is a great buy. I've owned a similar model for over a year now.

you cant go wrong with the dell lcd's if you have the money, I have 4 of them currently. the 2005FPW is a great choice and for that price its a steal, IMO these are about the best lcd monitors you can get. Im a pretty hardcore gamer and these monitors are awesome, no sign of ghosting at all, only problem I originally had in the beginning was having a system beefy enough to run them at the native resolutions while gaming. And they have a 3 year warranty which is really good for lcd monitors. Before I started using these I was using a Sony trinitron G500 while a little old by todays standards it is still very badass to game on, it just takes up a ton of real estate on the desk.

I just got the BenQ from newegg, its a beautiful display and no dead pixels. Just be prepared its huge if you're not used to a big display already. Also be sure your video card can support the high native resolution required by these monitors. 1680x1050 is what I run at.

Check the Deals page. The price on the Dell is now under $400 shipped.

Thanks for replies guys! I pulled the trigger just this morning when I saw the deal putting it at $396..but I also got one of those Dell $35 off coupon so it came out at $384 delivered. Now another question...do these monitors ship with neccessary cavles or do I have to get one?

It comes with a DVI cable and power cable. You shouldn't need anything more.

By the way, a warning about widescreen LCD monitors: a lot of graphics cards won't support them in the "native" resolutions like 1280x768, 1440x900 and 1920x1080. The newest ATI and nVidia chipset cards with DVI-D outputs do, though, provided you use the latest display driver.

For computer use, I'd rather stick with a 19" LCD at 1280x1024 resolution--most graphics cards can output to this resolution easily.

I'm considering an LCD as well; problem is, very few of them are HDCP-compliant (i.e. Windows Vista-ready) and are a tad expensive at the moment (the lowest street price is $600 for the Gateway FPD2185W). Firing Squad did a round-up, testing 5 of the 12 models on the market currently. Maybe I should hold on to my CRT for now and put the funds toward memory (Inquirer article)?

I just updated the drivers for my X800GTO and am seeing the 1680 x 1050 as one of the resolutions available. So I guess I'm good to go.
