DVD Drive Problem

My DVD Burner thinks it's a CD drive... I don't get it. I haven't done anything to change the settings - how do I make my DVD burner work again? It's a dual layer Lite On.

Thanks in advance!

It isn't your drive that's confused, it is your computer. It thinks the drive is a CD-ROM. Uninstall it and reinstall it, including any driver discs that came with it. Also check your system for adware, spyware and viruses, which can produce symptoms like this.

Regards,

Joe

Mine did this. After retracing my steps, I discovered it was XP Service Pack 2 that was wreaking the havoc. I uninstalled all my DVD player software, then the DVD drivers. Reboot, load DVD drivers back in, reinstall powerDVD, winDVD, Nero, etc. Voila! Then it was good again.
