WIdescreen LCD and Anamorhpic video

I bought a Dell laptop that comes with a great looking 17'' 16:10 aspect ratio monitor. Just curious what player to use to get the movies to be anamorphic cause they just seem to have to much black bars when I view them on it. right now I'm using Windvd.
Thanks

WinDVD does properly detect format Anamorphic DVDs (at least since version 4, the first one I used).

Remember that 2.35:1 movies will still have black bars. Even 1.85:1 movies will have small bars. Only true 1.78:1 DVDs will have no bars.

16:10 is of course 1.6:1 -- 1.78:1 (16:9) will still have narrow black bars when played full-screen.
