WMCE MY Movies ?

I'm using a HTPC to feed my Projector in my Theater. I basically have about a 100 item movie library that I use "Windows Media Center 2005 My Movies" with. Is there a way to use some extender through a wired home network to feed other T.V's?

Basically I want to let my HTPC on all the time and be able to pull up "My Movies" on my T.V in my bedroom. Is this possible?

Thanks

Yes it is, but you would need another MCE PC in the bedroom.

MyMovies can be configured to look for it's database from a network share.

Might have an easier time with a wireless mouse/keyboard and some long A/V cables.

Steve:

I am thinking of getting the Microsoft XBox360 to use with my TV upstairs as a wireless connection to my HTPC in the living toom. The XBox 360 will have an MCE extension built into it with an ethernet port for hooking up to my wireless bridge.

Anyway to use a wired network to make it work with the Xbox 360?

Yes, it has an ethernet port so you will be able to directly wire to it too. I just like the wireless option.

Will the wireless portion be able to stream "My Movies" from my Main HTPC in my basement? I always thought that with wireless and video that it is not a good idea.

Can I use a WMCE Extender from say D-Link to do what I want to do. Will it pass these video files on from my HTPC to a D-Link Media Extender?

802.11g might be good enough, but wired is the best way to go.

Sadly no, MCE extenders can't be used in the manner you want. MCE extenders are essentially "dumb" devices. They can stream recorded and live TV and thats about it. They do not have the capacity to play DVDs (ripped or otherwise), nor do they have surround sound outputs to keep the 5.1 audio a DVD has. My Movies also can't be used with an extender, since an extender is a "closed box" thin client.

Thats what I thought. That really sucks and I don't feel like spending another $800-$1000 to build another HTPC.

Oh well
