editing dvd files?


apoligies if this has been asked a million times (god knows i hate those saving private ryan threads), but i'm making a video for my girlfriend's birthday and i wanted to edit a freaks and geeks clip in front of my own video project i'm working on...is there any freeware that can rip a scene from a dvd into an avi or mpeg file? it needs to be compatible with premiere 6.0...

any suggestions?
