Just curious if this is a legit site and not a warez in disguise. It came up in my bargain price search for Windows Server 2003 Standard.
Something about the prices makes it just too good to be true, even if you are downloading official versions...[url]http://www.oem- is the URL.
Thanks

Any retail store that is an MS partner (and most small integrators) can contact any distribution point and receive the product at basically a set price. I'm not sure how easy it is to find online, but there are plenty in inventory in the national network.
The cost will be basically the same everywhere as MS sets the national price standard.

http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/def...spx?EDC=512375 And there's another version that's a CAL liscence. Can someone explain thedifference and why one is so cehap and the other isn't?
All I need is Windows Server 2003 for one person to use and setup websites, and I'm not sure wich version I need to get.
Thanks

CALs are Connection Access Licensing, handled by machine or user, and they are used to extend the functionality of Windows2003 Server in order to support additional users in the local domain.
If you need a server just for internet usage and not local domain purposes, you might look for Windows 2003 Web Edition. Example:

Yep, I saw that edition, but we're trying to find the cheapest solution possible to upgrading. The other optin I found is this. Would this do everything I need it to?
1 person using it and hosting 6 sites...

No. What you are seeing their is a CAL pack, designed to extend the number of users for Win2k3. It does not contain any software, or the OS. It's just designed to extend the number of Client Connection Lisences that the OS ships with (from 5 to 10 connections, etc.)

Ahh, OK. That explains why it was so cheap. Too bad Web Edition dosn't come up in a cnet search. Can't compare prices that way.
