Heads up! New MS patches

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/Security/default.mspx

Including yet another cumulative update for Internet Explorer.

It's getting to the point now where we don't have chance to package and roll these out to our clients before the next one appears.

No longer here.

Yeah lucky for us whose work PCs are on T1s and T3s, and who have broadband for home use.

Can you imagine a poor dial-up Windows PC? Must take all night for some of these updates (and I really wonder how dial-uppers upgraded to SP2)...

Not as long as you might think

That one was about a 6 hour affair...done twice, actually (after a re-format about a month later, unrealted to SP2) before I had the sense to order the CD for future use.

For me, the big service pack quietly downloaded a bit here and a bit there every time I was online for about two weeks (I tend to be online at least an hour a day)... and then one day it suddently announced that it had it all and was ready to install it. I hadn't even been aware it had been stealing my bandwidth all that time.
