As per my other post for gamespy, i am trying to fully congigure my new router. How is the best way to configure the router and most secure way to do this without just opening the 3389 port? Can i make this more secure? Thanks guys.

Hi, to get remote desktop you have to open the port. Or use another software that uses other ports.
But the remote desktop is safe enough

Of course there are more safe ways to do this like VPN, but the user level is high and maybe costs also.
Just keep your pc up to date with patches and updates.

the port is only open while its being used, just route that port too your computer and you will be fine.

you can hack Remote desktop to use a different port, and then when you type your address into the remote machine just use that port instead...

I used to do this on my machine, doesn't necessarily make it MORE secure, just a little harder to find.

you can also look into using VNC software which is, for the most part, the same as remote desktop. Something like ultr@VNC works well and you can adjust what port it uses.
