When I try to run windows update, it just says: "To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure." etc etc
First off, I am logged in as an administrator (actually the root account). I tried creating another account w/ admin privledges but same result. I've tried going to windows update and "Run As" then running as administrator that way with the same result. I have read through applicable microsoft knowledgebase documents, and they all say the same thing; delete these registry keys, clear your cache/history, delete the windows update folders, etc. Nothing works. This is very frusterating, I am a computer tech and nothing I can think of works. I have Norton 2004 installed w/ latest virus updates. I haven't updated windows in a long time (this problem is old) so I know there are critical updates I need. Luckily I burned the security update that took care of the sasser virus to a CD so at least that is installed. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
