Word XP...why does it prompt me to save when I don't change?

I'll open a Word file and just look at it, but when I close it, it prompts for a save, even though I don't change a thing. Is this a glitch I should be worried about?

No, not a glitch. Intended. The moment you open a document it still makes a temp copy of it and so that it assumes it's been altered by default. Word 2003 has a tracking method to get around this, but known to be an issue in WordXP.. Service Pack 3 for Office XP is out now.. you can get it at OfficeUpdate.Microsoft.Com, it -may- address that issue.. but it addresses a ton of others. (I believe you already must have SP1/SP2 installed, it is not cumulative)
