IrMan vs USB-UIRT vs Ira-2 vs Tira-2

Hello everybody,

Does anybody have an opinion on the above items? Which is the most effective IR receiver for an HTPC setup?

Of how much use is the "blasting" or transmitting capability of the UIRT or the TIRA?

Is there any difference in range? Or response time? Any reason to choose one over the others, besides price?

I understand the IrMan and the Ira-2 use a serial port while the USB-UIRT and the Tira-2 are both USB. Is there an advantage to one interface over the other?

I also understand that some receivers pass the IR data to the PC and depend on the CPU to interpret it, while others have a processer on-board, which results in faster reponse times while performing CPU-intensive operations.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Many thanks!

I'm not one to bump my own threads...

But I'm sure many of you HTPC users are using an infrared remote of some kind.

Can anyone give me some recommendations, or at least share their own experiences? I just want to get some idea of the advantages or disadvantages of particular set-ups, to help narrow my choices a bit.

Many thanks.
