what's the best dvd burner for me
I was thinking of getting an external HDD for the following (then I saw the price). Can I accomplish the following with a DVD burner?
I want to be able to do the following:
1. backup data off my computer. we're talking 10-20GB weekly. rw media is preferred but if media are cheap not necessary. this amount of data just spans too many cdrs so I ve been only doing it quarterly. As I understand it discs are 4.7GB. What's a good software package for doing this?
2. better than cd audio recordings (for LPs and my studio recordings). can I record DADs?
3. backing up of DVD media (DVDV, DVDA, SACD) which seem to be scratch-prone
4. recording video to replace my VCR (VCD doesn't cut it)
What does the X in 4X write translate into in MB/s transfer?
my PC:
Windows XP Pro
Athlon 700/ 512MB PC133/ Asus A7V (ATA133)
I currently have a TDK CD burner (with Nero Burning ROM) which I like a lot. Are TDK DVD burners good?
DVD's will be played back on Toshiba DVD-ROM drive, Pioneer DV563 STB, or Sony NS315 STB.
what's the best solution for me? what product(s) do you recommend?
thanks
