Windows ME fresh install and monitor resolution problem

Tonight, I did a fresh install of Windows ME on a 400Mhz PC with a standard APG card. Before, I was able to change the resolution to 600x800 and 32 colors with no problem under Windows 98. Now, I can't get it to go any higher than 640x480 and 16 colors. Any suggestions? I've updated the drivers to the most current for Envision (the monitor it's hooked to) but I'm getting a bit frustrated....

Monitor drivers aren't going to help you. What you need is video card drivers.

Why are you installing windows ME? I'd normally recommend something like XP Pro but it may not run on those specs, Win2k Pro may though. . . never-the-less in my opinion, Win98 SE is still a better choice over ME.

A few suggestions:

1) video card driver
2) the motherboard driver's disc and make certain that under the system devices that the appropriate agp to pci driver is installed instead of the pci-to-pci bridge
3) under the bios that the agp is set as the primary or only video, and no irq to pci video is set.
