Kazaa 2.5 --> supposedly rewards users in $

The Peer Points system lets you trade hard drive space and Internet bandwidth for points redeemable for premium content, cash, and prizes. Kazaa uses your hard-drive space to store this premium content, and it utilizes your bandwidth to send it to other Kazaa users.

And their main page still states they DON'T have spyware hidden in Kazaa. Suuuure, then where does the money come from?

Don't you love the way that they're lying out of their asses? They're trying to bury the seriousness of the crap that they install by using marketing jargon instead. If it keeps track of where I go and what I download, it's spyware, damn it!

Regarding the Peer Points system, it actually can have some benefits and if implemented properly might be beneficial. How many times have you tried to download a demo or even a legitimate, free product only to be stuck with, for example, a 50 Kb download rate on your 1.5 Mb DSL connection? The bandwidth costs of housing things like patches, service packs, upgrades, demos, and so forth can be astronomical. It might actually be more cost-effective to have millions of people around the world distribute that software for a small fee rather than have to pay the upstream costs of housing the software on a central server or group of servers.

The problem, however, still comes down to the fact that it's Kazaa - an application that is not worthy of anyone's trust.

Heh, did you hear the news? The Record industry stated today that it's going after the more aggressive users of file trading today, and expects 100's of lawsuits to be filed by August..

My sister might be in trouble .
