Nvidia: Return of the King?

Tom's Hardware

Looks like, for the moment, anyway. Pricey bastard, tho, isn't it?

Guess I'll wait and see what's what when Doom III releases.

hard saying, all the big sites are showing the 5800 and 5900 owning in doom III. but the problem is that the doom release used is an alpha and however fanboy like this sounds, it is true though, ati's current driver release isn't performing at par.

in the next couple of months things may well change again since there are still so many things not quite right.

Man you have to love competition. It helps to increase the R&D learning curve, increase production, & lowers cost to the end consumers. Even though $400 seems expensive I remember paying that much for my Gforce2 GTS from Elsa when it first came out too and it wasnt nearly what these are today.

IMO if ATI doesnt get on the ball and produce better drivers that are more compatible with all their cards they will be left in the dust.

I just finished reading that article, but ATI has a new card to supposedly leap nvidia again at the end of the summer.

Its the nature of computers. There will always be something bigger, faster, smaller, etc just around the corner. My family and friends always come to me and say what would you recommend. I have learned to ask one simple question.... When are you looking to buy. If they tell me now I will help them but often its a "in 6 months" deal and I just let them know it doesnt really do any good unless you are within a month of purchase because so much can change.
