Problems With Extended Remote
I have a 50 inch plasma wall mounted in my living room and the components reside in a closet that is located in another room on the other side of the wall. All the wires and cables pass through a cutout through both walls hidden behind the set so it makes for a very clean look. I purchased a Universal brand remote, model RF 20 and a matching extender that was advertised to work through walls. And it does. Sometimes. The closet opens into the same room with all my computer gear which includes two laptops, a desktop, two lasers, an all in one, a color printer, my wireless router, external speakers, a bookshelf stereo system, four flat panel monitors, a PDA, digital camera, several external hard drives and probably some other equipment I have forgotten to list. The AV rack consists of a Blu Ray player, amp, Time Warner cable box and a Monster Power control center. Both laptops have blue tooth capability. The remote works great some of the time and other times it does not work at all. I fear it may be overcome by interference from the gear in the room with the rack. No way I can relocate any of it, especially not the AV rack. The remote seems more consistent when the computers are powered down. Aside from turning the computers off when I want to watch the plasma, does anyone have a suggestion of a remote control that would be less prone to block out, or a way I can use what I have and improve performance?
