Best Setting for TV Sound

I was curious what setting people typically use on their surround sound while watching regular TV (no-HD). I have DirecTV and it seems no matter what setting I use, I never get sound from all speakers. Is this due to it not being processed in 5.1 surround?

Which channels do you have trouble with? With D*, the only standard def channels with Dolby Digital are a few of the premium movie channels. And even those that are flagged as DD may only be DD 2.0. Some of the other channels may be mono, stereo or "surround sound". I just let my receiver make the choice. Most of the time it will process stereo or Dolby Pro Logic 2. For the HD channels, they are all DD. But you still get 2.0, 2.1, etc in addition to the 5.1 content. It all depends on the channel and show.

Pro Logic II is where I have mine set. On some channels, it sounds about as good as 5.1 sounds.
