rear surround placement in corner

hello, new to the site. Have some ?'s about placing my rear surrounds. my room layout has the tv in a corner with a sectional sofa in the opposite corner. I know this isnt optimal for surround sound, but im shooting for the best combo of viewing angles and sound for all. My thought was to mount my rears close to the celing at the corners of the sofa and have them facing down so that the "sweet spot" is essentially in the corner of the room just in front of the sofa. will this reduce my sound quality or is it just a bad idea period. any help would be apreciated. Attaching a rough drawing with my speaker placements in red.
if it helps my equipment is as follows...60" sony lcd projector, energy take classic surrond system (5.1), dennon receiver (75w/channel). thanks for any help.

Re: rear surround placement in corner

Thats probably your best bet. The only other option you really have is moving the furniture around. I have setup Surround Systems like this in the past and it sounds fine. You won't get true rear effects but it will still sound good. Its better to have separation between the speakers, as you do in the drawing, then to have them real close together. Go for it!
