Conventional Stereo Set-Up

Hello Everyone,

I am new here, and new to the world of HT, so would like to ask a couple of questions. I have just purchased a Samsung 52" 1080p LCD TV along with a BD-P1400 Blu-ray player. These are connected to an Arcam system playing through 2 bi-amped B&W speakers. The system is set-up in a medium-size room (approx. 12.5" x 12.5"). I have considered changing to a full HT set-up, but have found that all the multi-channel receivers I have listened to have significantly inferior sound quality to my Arcams when used strictly for audio listening. Also, I cannot seem to find a solution that will accommodate a turntable input for Rega 3. This being said, I have 2 questions: are there any higher-end sound systems that can do double-duty as Hi-Fi AND HT? And, if I stay with the current system, should I be selecting the 2.0 channel option when playing movies? Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated, thanks !!

Re: Conventional Stereo Set-Up

It may work best for you to have two completely separate systems. No doubt there are high-end (expen$ive) systems, but for most films it just isn't necessary.

Of course, if what you want is an astonishingly great system spare no expense, by all means tell me to shush!
