Can anyone recommend a reciever???

Hi All, I am new to HT, broke, and raising three kids. I have a bunch of fairly good speakers but know absolutly nothing about HT recievers....actually I am not sure if that is what they are called. So, can you recommend a good entry level reciever or processor if that is the right word? The majority of the usage will be Disney type movies. Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat as you. I did a little research and found the Sony STRDG510 it has a lot more features then the other receivers in this price range but it really depends on what you want.

Welcome to the forum Dennis and Ezra. First , what is your spending limit for the new receiver? Second, what features would you like your receiver to include?

Yes, we need a price range before we can give you any recommendations.

Re: Can anyone recommend a reciever???

Hi Guys, I only have 3 to 4 hundred bucks to spend. It would be cool if I could spend less....you know....WF. As far as features go, I don't know enough to answer that. Cheers.

Yamaha RX-V461 or if you can find some extra cash the RX-V661. What I tell my friends/or anyone who asks, buy 1 step up more than what you "think" you need. If that means wait one more month, then wait!

I justed helped my brother put together a very nice, reasonably priced system that included the Onkyo 605 receiver. He got it on sale from Amazon for less than $400 delivered. Onkyo receivers have been getting lots of acclaim recently - the room eq, hdmi for future upgrades & easy to set up & use.
