How do I set up Amazing music setup/video games

I really want to set up a space with quality satellite speakers, but I want them to also be able to encompass surround sound with a computer. I'm aiming for digital here since i think it's easeir and is of better quality. Is it possible to just get a digital amp connection and then to buy each individual speaker? I'm worried about surround sound support for video games and movies. Is it possible? And how much would a set up like this come up to? I'm thinking about 5 speaker set up with a subwoofer.

If it's not possible, then how does one set up a space like this for his room? w/o the HDTV, I just want the speakers for music say if I wanted to play it from the computer.

hi i have had my computer set set up like you want to do for 6 years its pretty easy you will need a good sound card 2 ways to do sound it depends on how much you want to spend. most sound cards have 5.1 to 7.1 out with 1- 3.5mm stereo plug for 2 channels then it has 2 rca plugs on the other end these can go straight to amps or you can go digital coax out to a receiver thats how i do it my video card has hdmi out so i can MY 65" DLP TV as a monitor it works greatlet me know if you want any help setting it up ie over the phone let me know your budget my set up was many thousands and 1400 watts a pro theater setup i can research products for you if you want i can email pics of my setup so you can see you wont have to spend as much as i did i like big speaker sound my cell is 602 -469-7369 and email gregcat19@yahoo.com

Re: How do I set up Amazing music setup/video games

fantastic, thanks a ton for your help. My e-mail's Tai_Duong10@hotmail.com so send me the pics, I'd love to see em. I've got so many questions, I hope you can bear with me ;P. I was thinking of holding it off because I wanted to get a logitech 5.1 z-5500's to keep me satisfied for now but I was worried about upgradability, say if I were wanted to swithc that for more quality set ups in teh future, and still wanted 5.1 surround support. I mean wha'ts the first way to do this? You said there's two ways.
