Ready to create my home theater -- HELP!!

I purchased a new house this year and am ready to work on my home theater room as a Christmas present to myself. I have a dedicated home theater that is already pre-wired. I know that I need a projector and ceiling mount for it, a screen, and a DVD player. I have no idea what else I will need, particularly by way of speakers. Can I just buy one of those 5.1 home theater speaker/DVD sets? And where would I put the speakers? The room has sconces on the side walls and the speaker things (red/white hookups) nearby on both side walls -- two on each wall. And how do I mount the speakers?

I plan on doing everything myself, just need some guidance.

It might be helpful if you gave the dimensions of the room. And, quite possibly, a budget.

Speaker placement - Dolby Labs has some recommendations.

Speaker mounts - Depending on the size, wall and ceiling speaker mounts are available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Circuit City. If you need larger ones, then online from Parts Express or some specialty shops.

Projector screen - A lot of people will recommend different screens that ranget from $500 to $5,000. I built mine in a weekend for under $70. There are even paint formulas that you roll on for around $20.

The home theater in a box (HTiB) are nice but not the best choice for a dedicated room. What's your budget on sound? What's your budget on this whole project?

The room is 14' 3" by 16' 3". I just bought theater seating so I have about $1800-$2000 left in my budget. What do you recommend?

The $1800 includes the projector?
optomo hd70 might be worth a look

also reviewed here

So, say, $800 for the rest?

I looked at the Optoma HD70 and decided to buy that one with a 100" widescreen projection screen. There is a sale going on right now (rebate on both) so that will cost about $1000, leaving about $800-$1000. Can you recommend some speakers?
