Re: HTS TV audio lower than Radio
Hi Alan. Welcome to HTF!
This is a well known issue, but there is no easy solution.
The 5.1 sound (on DVD's and HDTV's) have a much higher "dynamic range" than VHS, TV or Radio. By "Range" I mean the volume can swing from very quiet to very loud. Because of this - the average volume is lower.
Do you have a CATV box? Sometimes these have a "Compression" setting which can keep the volume in a narrower range (usually louder) so it would more closely match the radio.
Some AV Receivers also have a "Midnight Theater" mode that does the same thing so you can watch movies/shows at night, but the volume wont jump and disturb other people.
Beyond that - there is just nothing you can do besides remember to turn the volume down when you switch.
