CEILING SPEAKERS - THOUGHTS?

OK, this is my second thread. I am contemplating in ceiling speakers (possibly AIM series 3) as part of my 5.1 set-up (sub on the floor). I was initially focussing on two channel quality but for a couple of reasons I have decided to move my two channel setup to another room (part of the motivation is to keep my kids fingers out of expensive tweeters and the likes!).

So, I have two questions:

1/. For the room above our lounge (which happens to be my daughters bedroom, is it likely to be noisy. There is a box space of about 1.5 feet between the floor of the room and the ceiling of the living room. Just general comments versus specific would be great.

2/. Overall, in a semi enclosed room, what are peoples thoughts on ceiling speaker set up. Attached is a picture (I hope) of the potential setup for discussion.

Well your daughters room will get some sound.

Try and pull the L/R speakers into the room so you have the same distance to them as you do to the center.

Ceiling speakers can be decent and I suspect many custom installs use them because you dont have to fight with windows/doors and other wall issues.

Ceilings can work for surrounds, but I would never use them for the front soundstage. The sound will never be anchored to the screen, no matter how much versatility the speakers have in setting directionality. Look at in-walls for the fronts/center and leave the ceilings for the surrounds. JMHO.

Thank you. That point makes the most sense. Guess the best course of action is to try and listen to a setup like that before making any decisions.

Front facing speakers mounted into the wall would be an option.
