pc as dvd surround sound sytem

So my surround sound system **** a brick and only two speakers work(sub and left front) I was thinking of getting a small 5.1 surround sound for my pc and also to watch dvds on through my pc.( I have a small bedroom so I dont need anything big). I found this:

I was wondering if anyone thought this would be alright for a small bedroom.
And a second question, can anyone recommend some good dvd upconversion software to 1080i HD.?

Yes many people use PCs as HT sources, often called HTPCs. Theatertek is a great DVD playback program to use, great with remotes and such, and very high quality. Get a good video card for quality scaling, which is cheap now. I run my theater off a PC, but not to computer speakers, it's a fully functioned theater, but it's just a PC and networked server type system that feeds all the content for the theater. You can get as fancy as you want, PCs are fairly flexible, but take a lot of effort.
