Set up Component Video to Philips Pixel Plus II

It seems that I'm quite confuse about setting DVD Component (Progressive Scan) to Philips PT9421.
I'm able to connect DVD input to AV1 input, and have picture (video) as expected. No problem with the Philips TV digital setting for 100Hz, Movie Plus, Pixel Plus.

The problem is when I switch my DVD player output to Progressive Scan, I have no picture on my TV.
My TV, AV1 can only have picture if the DVD is in Interlace mode, not Progressive mode.
Anyone can help me on this..?

If I connect DVD Input to the AV3 tv input, I'm able to use Progressive mode.
Confuse why the Philips TV can only work for Progressive under AV3..?
In the AV3, I'm not able to select TV digital setting.

Any feedback would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Set up Component Video to Philips Pixel Plus II

My Samsung is designed a similar way. One input takes 480i or 480p, but nothing higher. The other inputs take 720 or 1080, but not 480.

My guess is your Philips only accepts progressive on AV3. Check your owners manual (I could not find one on line so I cannot look this up for you).

Re: Set up Component Video to Philips Pixel Plus II

Thanks Bob, after gone through the users manual I did miss out the AV input guide.
AV1 for 480i.
Only AV3 & AV4 for 480p, 576p or 1080i.

In AV3 (progressive setting), I do not have the pixel plus II options.
It seems that when I connect to AV1 (interlace setting) with pixel plus options the image have more 3D effect.
A bit confuse, I thought progressive output would have better image than interlace output ... or may be the TV pixel plus options done a better job ...

Your TV does a de-interlace, but usually the DVD player does the same thing, but with less artifacts because it has a digital data stream to manipulate. So you are not looking for any dramatic improvement in picture quality, but a reduction in problems.
