How should I wire my setup?

Hello all, you guys have a great site here. I have already found loads of great info.

Here is my situation. I just bought an HD-A2 to go with the Vizio VX37L I got a couple of months ago. My issue is that my receiver (Sony STR-DE898) does not have any HDMI inputs/outputs.

Do I even need to worry about HDMI cables if I don't have a 1080p display? I am not too worried about the audio at this point, I have coax from the current DVD player to my receiver. Can't find a picture of the back of the HD-A2, do I need to go optical for it?

Sorry for the convoluted questions, if I need to clear up anything, please let me know.

I would run an HDMI cable to the TV and an optical or coax cable to the receiver, assuming port availability and cable length aren't big issues. The HD-A2 will only upscale standard DVDs over an HDMI connection.

Thanks! Just ordered an HDMI and optical cable from monoprice. Hopefully won't have to wait too long to get the full HD experience.
