New Setup - need advice

I just purchased the SONY HT-DDW900 HTIB. For the price, I couldn't find a better deal. I bought it at Fry's, read lots of reviews, and people seem to like it.

I also purchased a pair of Polk Audo R15's.

Now, here is my deal. I live in an apartment, thus I am not using the surround sound speakers (just yet). I do have 3 speakers, plus the sub hooked up right now. My question is this:

Is it ok (or sound proper) to have the Polk Audio R15's as the front left and right speakers, and have the Sony center channel speaker that came with the system as the center channel speaker? Will it sound funky or not work to its potential due to the speakers having different specs?

Overall, how does this system look for an apartment?

Leave the polks out and use the sony setup since all the speakers are Timbre matched. Not a bad setup for an apt, but eventually your ears will grow out of the HTIBs.

So your suggestion is to get rid of the "better" Pol Audio speakers and replace with the component speakers that came with the HTIB, correct?

Why is this? - (I just love to know why)

Timbre matching is the reason. Your Sony speakers will all sound the same and the Polks will sound different. If you've got the same sound coming out of the Sonys and the Polks, they're probably going to sound different and mismatched. If you want to use the Polks, get a Polk center channel and ditch the Sony fronts. Matching the fronts and rears isn't a necessity.

The man I loved - the man who vanished - he never came back at all. But maybe he's still out there, somewhere. Maybe some day, when Gotham no longer needs Batman, I'll see him again.

What Polk Audio center channel speaker do you suggest?
