What quality equipment minus tv to purchase for 2k

Have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 TV. I would like to build a good home theatre system. Receiver, speakers, sub. I wired the walls when building the house for 5.1. Two front and two rear so outlets are on the upper walls. Would like to spend 2k or less. I'm very new at this and the more I read the more confused I get. If I could get some help on good equipment from you guys I would appreciate it VERY MUCH. Also is my TV good to go? Room is 21 X 24.

Do you want floor-standing speakers? Or just bookshelf/surrounds?

Re: What quality equipment minus tv to purchase for 2k

No problem. How does this look?:

Receiver: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...0&I=158STDG600

Fronts: Black wood: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...00&I=107MON40B
or
Cherry: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...00&I=107MON40C

Rears (also available in cherry or white): http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...900&I=107RTI4B

Center Channel Speaker (also available in Cherry): http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...2100&I=107CS2B

Subwoofer (also available in Chery): http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...00&I=107PSW12B

And... I think that's it. You may want to get good wiring for the subwoofer, that monster cable stuff. It makes it sound LOADS better! I hope this is good for you. I think I actually made it cheap for your budget actually!

*EDIT*
Just to make sure, I added it all up to see if it fit your budget. All of that is $1409.95. Below your budget. And that receiver is 7.1, so you could add some side speakers as well.

*EDIT2*
And you'll need some stands. Get two of these for your front speakers:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5u7g0ya...asp?i=051SF26S

And I couldn't find wall mounts for your rears... Anyone wana find those for him?

Re: What quality equipment minus tv to purchase for 2k

On a $2,000 budget I would consider purchasing:

Fronts: Paradigm Atom Monitor v.5
Centre: Paradigm CC-190 v.5
Surrounds: Paradigm ADP-190 v.5
Subwoofer: HSU VTF-2 MK 2 or HSU STF-2
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-1016TX
Universal Remote: Logitech Harmony 880
Cabling: Subwoofer Cable from Blue Jeans Cable (don't waste your money on Monster)
Surge Protector: Belkin, APC or TrippLite
Front Speaker Stands: matching stands from Paradigm

Here is a review of the Paradigm Atom Monitor's: http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/p...monitor_v5.htm

I would recommend auditioning as many speakers as possible before purchasing. Don't take our word for it. Your ears won't lie to you..

Re: What quality equipment minus tv to purchase for 2k

Thanks for your recommendations, today I'll go on another field trip. Will I ever be sitting in my recliner listing to good sounds and watching movies on the edge of my seat? Thank God my car has a great sound system to ease my pain. Thanks again and I'll hopefully talk with you again tonight.

I thought Polk Audio was a really good company though.

Polk Audio is good. Looked at HSU VTF-2 MK 2 and HSU STF-2 subwoofers today and love those. Need to look at speakers now and receivers. Keep advice coming my way please!

Here are some bookshelf speakers that would be high on my list to audition:

Paradigm Atom
Paradigm Titan
PSB Alpha
B&W DM303
Monitor Audio Bronze BR2

You may also want to consider Axiom Audio. Enjoy!
