Sony STR-DG800 Crossover Points

I've got a few questions as I try to maximize use of this Sony STR-DG800 receiver. I'm running it to KEF Q50 front speakers, a Mirage BPS-100 sub and a KEF Model 90 center speaker. Hopefully there is someone out there who is familiar with this specific receiver.

Right now the crossovers in the receiver and the sub are both active. I would like to make it so that the receiver does all the work. Perhaps this is not necessary or even advised. It just seems logical to me.

The sub lets me set the crossover between 50 and 150 by turning a dial on the back. There is also a separate volume control. Right now I'm running an RCA cable from the receiver's sub-out jack into the white RCA low-level input jack on the sub.

The receiver allows me to adjust the crossover point on the front speakers only if I assign the speakers as "small" instead of "large" in the setup process. Setting the front speakers as small also sets the center channel and rear speakers (not yet purchased) as small. This seems like selling the speakers short. They can handle a wider range of sound.

What is the best way to proceed to make sure I'm getting the most from this system?
