i need some advice (noob)

i have a 12x12 room in my basemet and i would like to make it into a home theater. i would like a front projector at least 720p because i have a PS3 and at least 5.1 surround sound. i have a 2500$ budget not including cables or construction.

I was thinking of a Optoma HD70 or a Mitsubishi HD 1000u for a good projector and a 92" or a 88" fixed screen.

For sound i was thinking of a

Sony Extended-Response 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker Package with a panasonic SA XR57S receiver.

thanks for your help i would also like any tips before i begin construction.

Two quick observations. Take 'em or leave 'em.

Square rooms can be problematic for sound. I can't post links so google for modecalc a program that can calculate your room modes. You may need to consider this.

When it comes to speakers buy from a speaker company. I just bought the Paradigm CT90 set and it works very well. Sounds great and has a decent sub. Almost all speaker manuafcturers have something like this. I would also recommend that you do NOT consider Bose speakers.

The amp I run the Paradigms off is a cheap little Panasonic that is older but similar spec wise and it works well.

Does anybody know if the Sony Extended-Response 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker Package will even work with a panasonic SA XR57S receiver.
