pre-wire question/ starting tommorow

I am prewiring for 5.1, w/ 14 ga cl3 non-oxygen free wire, I am putting in wall flush mounts. Should my surrounds be facing the front speakers on the back wall, or facing inward from the side wall? Also, is this wire OK for the sub?

Dolby speaker layout - http://www.dolby.com/consumer/home_e...oomlayout.html

That wire is fine if your sub is not powered. If you have a powered sub, then you need to use something like RG-6 with the apprpriate connections on the ends of the cable.

Re: pre-wire question/ starting tommorow

I'd go with 12 ga if you can get it for the rears.

And run these separate from that RG6 for the sub. The speaker wires carry watts of power, but the subwoofer signals are line-level. You dont want long runs of these together.

Label the wires every foot for 10 ft at both ends. Do a simple A/B/C type of label.

Also, pull enough wire to create a un-broken run between the speakers ad your receiver. Run the wires through plastic electrical outlet box's. But buy blank wall-plates and drill your own holes for a custom look. You can buy wall-plates with binding posts later, but pulling a few feet of extra wire now gives you the best type of connection now (un-broken) and options for the future.

Another suggestion: zig-zag the wires between the vertical studs and use insulated staples LIGHTLY pounded in. Years from now you may need to trim the ends of the speaker wires. Tug to pop the first staple and get some slack. Tug again for more....

Hope this helps.
