My son has told me that I should have bought a system with the amplifier in the Woofer but I was ill advised by three different shops that I went to for help each one said that I would need a Player. I hope you can sort this out for me. Roy

The best solution would be to connect the digital audio out (coaxial or optical) on the back of the HD box to a digital audio in on the surround system. Configure the surround system to play that digital audio in when you select "TV". You would then turn the speakers off in the TV's menu and all audio from the HD box will play in digital surround (if surround is present in the audio). The next best connection would be a Red/White analog audio from the audio out on the TV to the TV audio in on the surround system. You would then set the TV to output "fixed" (i.e. non-adjustable) volume, turn off the TV speakers and all audio (including the VHS) that used to come from the TV will be coming from the surround system. This is a lesser connection because you would not be getting the advantages of digital audio (Dolby Digital 5.1, to be specific) from the HD box, you would only be getting analog audio.
