Please help me install new EQ - confused...

Hi there,
I recently got a PS3 and I would like to connect it to my SONY DAV-FX500.
I only have one optical input on this dvd/receiver unit. However, it is being used by my cable box. I came across an item on the web, see link below. I was wondering if anyone used this, or heard/read anything about this. If it works, if it will create some sort of signal/quality loss.

http://www.trianglecables.com/os-3pt.html

I will connect the PS3 directly to my tv via Component cable. Component is better than composite, correct?

Please help me
Thanks,
G

The optical selector has been used successfully for years by members. If you have coax digital, you can get an optical to coax converter from PE for about $16.

Yes, component is better than composite.

Hi thanks for the reply.
I believe the receiver has the coax dig, but not sure on which input (may already be used by something else).
I would like to order ASAP but have 1 question out the component video as well.

Component video will output the same quality as HDMI video, correct?
I've see some component w/ 1080i capability.

Just want someone to verify, rather than I make a mistake*

Component will easily carry HD (720p or 1080i). In fact, I'm doing that right now with a DirecTV HR10-250 and Mitsubishi HDTV. Is it as good as HDMI? That dead horse has been beaten enough. It boils down to the equipment being used. Try both. The cables aren't that expensive.

Re: Please help me install new EQ - confused...

Thanks again.
I can try both HDMI and component, however both HDMI ports on my TV are being used. I do not want to spend $300 on a hdmi/toslink box (octavainc.com), so I figured I'd get 1080i (my TV doesn't do 1080p) or 720p on blu ray discs from component cable without having to spend $300 for the box, + cost of cables.
