Having trouble getting projector to run HD image

Hello,

I'm new to the HTF and have a potentially dumb question for my first post here. I have a Panasonic PT-AE500U LCD Projector and a Sony DVP-NS75H DVD Player. According to the manuals I should be able to run in 720p/1080i however after hooking up an HDMI->DVI cable from the player to projector according to the OSD of the projector I am only getting 525p. Wondering if any one has had similair problems or can at least offer some advice on settings etc. I re-read the manuals and seem to have things set correctly but I may be wrong obviously. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Having trouble getting projector to run HD image

You most likely need to change the settings on your dvd player. I have not used your equipment, however on my upconverting DVD player, you need to set the output options before you begin playing a dvd. Your projector is going to use whatever signal your dvd player sends.

I'm no expert either, but you should start by checking your sony manual on how to change the output settings.

Re: Having trouble getting projector to run HD image

All right this got me thinking so I found your manual online.

First you want to hit the dispaly button while the dvd player is on but not playing ("stop mode" according to the manual)

Then
Select SETUP and press enter
Select CUSTOM and press enter
Select SCREEN SETUP and press enter

Okay now make sure your TV TYPE is set to 16:9 (your projectors native Aspect Ratio)

Now go down to HDMI RESOLUTION. It is probably set to AUTO. You want to change it to 1920 X 1080i or 1280 X 720p. You are going to want to test both upconverting options because peoples taste varies and you may notice diferences between the two. Now that you have taken the player out of "AUTO" mode, it will force your dvd player to always sent the upconverted signal.

I hope this helps.
