Advice on HT Speakers and Tuner

Hello
I know this question has probably been asked several times but i really would like some expert advice on the best speakers and tuner equipment out therer. I'm basically looking for a high end and mid range 7.1 setup. I allredy have the projector so all i need is the speakers and tuner. The main purpose of my HT will be sports and movies. I also plan on playing HD DVD and Xbox 360 games. So far what i looked at is the monster HD series and they are very nice i just want to make sure that i do not only buy them for their name but also for their qualilty.

My room Dimations are 23LX14WX9H. Is located in a basement that does not have drywall up yet.

So please give me some advice on top of the line equipment (speaker and tuner) and some mid range equipment.

tuner? or do you want a receiver?

A tuner just allows a user to tune into am/fm (and sometimes sat radio). You'll probably want an hdtv tuner of some sort (atsc, directv/cable/dish, whatever) if you don't already have one.

A receiver combines a radio tuner, preamp, processor, and power amplifiers. You can go with separate power amplifiers if you have the budget.

And then there are speakers-- and those are a matter of taste.

what is your budget?

I would highly recommend Denon for your HT Receiver.....

Extremely User Friendly, Very Clean and Excellent Products.

I would avoid anything that says Monster! Just like Bose.. they are overpriced.

Take a look at the Denon line and go up as high as you can afford

For the Price the 2307ci is great with HDMI and 1080P. Nice piece at $799

I've been running the 4802 for years now and going to the 4806CI this year.

Speakers.... Take your pick.. don't know if your looking for inwall, inceiling, floor standing,bookshelf, or what??

Thanks for the help the on the receivers unfortunately i do not know much about them, but would a 120X7 W be able to drive a good set of speakers.

As far as speakers they will not be wall speakers, and my budget is around 4500 dollars.
AS far as Demon I’m looking at [AVR-3806] and [AVR-4306] but what is the main difference. In my theater i would only pan on running movies and sports so i do not need Digital radio or stuff like that.

I would agree that Denon is some of the best equipment out there, but, I don't agree about it being very user friendly, especially for someone that's new to HT. Their remotes tend to be a nightmare! (Get a Harmony remote, no matter what equipment you buy) Denon also uses their own language. Instead of multi-channel, they call it EXT. IN, etc...... But, if you learn quick and easy, you'd be very happy with the Denon. I also know of a couple of instances where their customer support isn't very good at all. But Denon doesn't usually have many problems. I would buy Denon, if I could afford it.

Another very good brand of receivers and amplifiers is Outlaw. See them here: http://www.outlawaudio.com/ You can only buy Outlaw equipment online.

As for speakers, there are just so many brands that are very good, and many price ranges. There's Allison (http://www.allisonacoustics.com), Polk, Klipsch, SVS (http://www.svsound.com). SVS is also considered to have one of, if not the best subwoofers on the market. Especially one of these babies: http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-cyl.cfm You can look at other speakers and their specs here: http://www.crutchfield.com, but you really need to go listen to some different brands.

If you can afford to go to the 4806CI at about $4000 msrp that's the way to go. You should be able to get a good deal less then the msrp for that amp. The 1080p upscaling is one of the major upgrades to this AVR. It has not only 1080 switching, but has 1080p Upsclaling! Plus the amp has the ethernet port for connecting to you home computer network. Plus an even 140 watts per channel in a single chaises is great! More than enough to rock the pictures off the wall while still in idle!... step on the gas a little and you'll need new shingles on the roof!

I have listened to a few speakers over the weekend. There are 2 speakers that have really impressed me so far. One is the POLK system, and the other is Klipsh.
Anybody has some though on both of this brands. The HT will be mainly used for movies and sports.

Both make great speaker.. guess it's time to let your ears make that decision. Just make sure you get a good sub to go whatever speakers you go with!
