Playstation in Surround

Okay, here is the problem. I have a playstayion 2 slimline that I would like to use in my system. I have it connected directly with componenet cables to a Mitsubishi 52631. I get picture and sound there just fine. My problem is I don't get any sound out of the surround system. I have the audio outputs of the Mitsubishi feeding into a Yamaha HTR 5150's TV/DBS inputs. I also have the Cable Box's Fiber Digital Feeding the TV/DBS input. When I play the PS2 the only components on are the PS2, the Mitsubishi and the Yamaha. Could the Fiber input cancel out the analog input? I have tried changing the TV/DBS input to analog to no avail. This setup worked with my Toshiba set, before I had digital cable(2 weeks ago).

Re: Playstation in Surround

You should be feeding the audio output from the PS2 directly to the HTR Receiver. Not to the TV and Back to the HTR. Choose an unused input on the HTR for the audio. If you have an open digital input that would be prefrerd, if you are using analog (red and white) go to an unused input like VCR for the playstation sound.

All componets should enter the HTR (audio and Video) before going to the TV. Going to the TV and then back to the Receiver is not a good idea.

I can't find the model HTR that you listed on Yamaha's website so I can't look at the inputs/outputs and what it's exactly capable of doing, but normally all audio and video sources enter a Receiver first and the the Monitor out goes to the TV.
