setting up for the best sound

I have an Onkyo tx-ds939 receiver. It originally came with an acoustic analyzer microphone. I never used it to set up my speakers I just did it manually. I would like to try and use one of these analzer and let that set up my home theater and see if I like that way better. The problem is I misplaced it and can't seem to find another one. I checked Onkyo's web sight and no luck, ebay no luck. I was hoping I would'nt have to but that exact Onkyo one that maybe somebody knew where I could find one. Thanks

Re: setting up for the best sound

It is the same jack as a walkman headphones. I just tried my headphones from me cd walkman and they fit. Would the ones that you have work in my receiver. I would assume it should't matter wheather or not it's made for an Onkyo receiver or any other receiver. What do you think. What would you want for one of the mics if you think it will work. And thank you very much for helping me.

Actually, it does make a difference. The problem is that the cheap mics manufactures use for their auto calibration function don’t have ruler-flat frequency response, so the receiver has built-in compensation. The compensation is only good for the supplied mic – try to use some other mic and who knows what you’ll end up with. Of course, it may be that all the Japanese manufactures are using the same mic, but I’d be surprised if they were.

Typically you don’t find replacement parts on a company’s website. Try calling Onkyo’s New Jersey HQ at 201-785-2600 and ask for the Parts Dept.
