Volume Control

Hi I'm a noob and I don't even know if I have problem. Anyway my Panasonic SA-HT720 volume control max's out at 00 dbs and when i turn it down it goes to -88dbs. It seems ok for most things. Seems kind of weird to me. But like i said i dont know if its even a problem. Thanks for any help!

You mean it automatically turns all the way down to -88? That doesn't seem normal, but I'm not familiar with this receiver. Does it do this regardless of the mode you have it in? (DVD, CD, Tuner, etc...)

This is the way most every AVR works....

The negative numbers indicate it is not backwards.

As 0 is a larger number than any negative.

Send a message via Yahoo to Wayne A. Pflughaupt
The numbers refer to the pre- amp section’s output voltage, 0 dB being maximum output. Thus the negative numbers mean “82 dB below maximum output,” or something along those lines.

Perhaps they should label "attenuation" instead of "volume" technically.

Scott,
I had the same question when I first set up my system. Check out the last post on this thread Negative Volume ? . It is very informative.
