DigitalTV?

We have an 8 year old TV in our motorhome and it's dieing a slow death. Considering replacing it with an LCD flat screen. We use cable or satellite for our source. Since satellite is a digital signal, does that mean my old set is receiving/displaying digital? And there are so many LCD sets out there I'm getting confused. How important is it to get one that has integrated HD? My old satellite receiver probably doesn't receive HD...ya think? Getting a cable company STB is not a good option since we change locations several times a year. Would I be just as well off by getting a good LCD digital set and forget HD??

Kind of. Your satellite receiver converts the digital signal to analog before sending it to the TV. Even with my HDTV, it receives an analog HD signal via the component video cables.

Most of the ones that are integrated will only pick up OTA digital signals. If you want integrated and digital cable, you need a cable card ready TV. Then you get your access card from your local cable company. There aren't any current TV's that integrate a satellite tuner.

Don't know. You didn't list the model number.

Then you probably shouldn't go cable card then. You would need a new card after every move. At least with satellite, you can move without any subscription hassle. You will have to set up a dish and an antenna at each location you want digital TV.

You need to look at the hassle of the HD setup at each stop and decide for yourself.
