DTS not working properly

I recently upgraded my aduio output from my DVD player to a Toslink cable and have been enjoying real, true Dolby 5.1 through my 5.1 system. But when I tried a DTS-ES movie (Austin Powers in Goldmember), it went into DTS:Neo 6 mode and I can't get it into actual DTS mode. So I then tried another DTS movie (The Butterfly Effect) adn then two others (LOTR: Fellowship and LOTR: Two Towers Extended Editions) and they didn't work either. Does anyone know how I can get this to work. My DVD player says it supports DTS and my reciever says it supports DTS-ES.

DVD Player: JVC XV-N55SL
Reciever: Onkyo TX-SR601

Is the dvd player set so that "bitstream" is enabled, thereby enabling the dts output?

Thank you very much. That fixed it. For some reason it was set to "Dolby/PCM" instead of "Stream/PCM". Now I can enjoy LOTR in DTS!
