Another terminology question

What is 3:2 pulldown? I've seen this listed on the specs of multiple items, both TVs and DVDs.

Okay. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but from reading that information, it seems that 3:2 pulldown is not really a good thing and it causes picture degredation. If that is the case, why is Pioneer touting the fact that the Elite RPTV "employs 3:2 pulldown for film-based sources, providing optimal picture quality"?? I guess I'm confused by this.

3:2 pulldown is good for film based sources and degrades video based sources. This is because the video based sources are displayed 30 frames per second and film is 24 frames per second. Applying 3:2 pulldown to the film based sources optimizes the 24fps speed of the film to the 30fps of the video display. However, applying 3:2 pulldown to video degrades the video image because video is already optimally displayed at 30fps.
