What makes a good CD-Transport?


I am woundering what makes a good cd transport---If I am going to hook it up me my Receiver via SPDIF what difference would I hear between a nice transport and a $50 dvd player?

There are SOO many answers to this question.

First, whether you can hear differences between transports. That's a whole can of worms.

Then your system, it depends on the resolution of your system. If you had 100K worth of stuff, you'd probably more readily hear (if at all) differences between a $50 dvd player and a high-end transport.

If you have a HTIB, you'd probably never hear any differences between DACS, let alone transports.

What is your setup? You might be fine just sticking with the DVD player.
