Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-1-2008
Thanks to everyone for their answers about the potential order from amazon.uk.
I guess now the question becomes if I want to wait another month-and-a-half to get the BD version over the SD version.
There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-1-2008
Mike, one UK Blu-ray you may consider adding to your order (if you place one) is Superman Returns. Unlike its US counterpart, this one has both an uncompressed PCM and Dolby TrueHD track. I've heard rumors about this new pressing replacing the current DD5.1 release once retailers sell out of the old one, but IMO domestic sales are so stagnant on this title that it's unlikely we'll see significant movement on it until the next Superman movie comes out (whenever that will be). So, if you like the movie and want the best audio experience, you may want to check it out.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-1-2008
Thanks as always! Just Unbreakable for me this week (praying for no audio issues...). I am also pleasantly surprised to see Circuit City pricing their Blu-ray releases a little more aggressively. Hopefully Best Buy will soon full suit.
Blu-ray & HD DVD - It's all about the movies!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-1-2008
I guess a few of the Round-Up posters beat me to the punch on answering your question, Mike!
I placed an order right after Christmas for five CDs totalling approx. 54 British Pounds. After removing VAT it came to just over 47BP, with shipping just over 55BP.
I've been ordering from HMV and Amazon UK for almost ten years now; never paid/encountered issues with customs (sometimes the packages are marked as "gifts"), but I stopped ordering from HMV because shipping costs to the US was getting ridiculous. I've also ordered from Amazon.ca and Amazon.de (Germany) although a basic understanding of German can be VERY helpful!

Thanks, Eric. So, I guess the morale of the story is that removal of the VAT kinda makes for a wash with the shipping.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-1-2008
I'm just wondering on the Alvin and the Chipmunks Gift Set from Best Buy that comes with the plush toys. Wondering if their like cheapy made. Guess I might have to see for myself because you never know but when you think about it for the Blu-ray its pretty much worth it for the price since with or without it still is 29.99.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-1-2008
Just noticed that the pre-order of Twister on BD @ amazon.com (May 6) is $19.95.

Not in my universe. I just noticed it.
