The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Cheaper By the Dozen: Baker’s Dozen Edition AND Polar Express AND War of the Worlds (2005) are ALL available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s) ! 8MM 2 is being released in RATED and UNRATED versions AND 9 Songs is being released in EDITED and UNCUT versions...get the one(s) that are right for you !

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! #2 The Honeymooners (2005) is being released in an MAR-version ONLY! I cannot remember the last time that has happened with a recent release film. Thusly, it is NOT included in this week’s RoundUp.

--Best Buy gets us started off this week with a FREE Film Collector’s book with its copies of The War of the World (2005) on DVD. Instantly. FOR REWARDZONEMEMBERS ONLY! The 200-page film collector’s book includes the screenplay and a 24-page color photo section highlighting the movie’s acclaimed visual effects. Minimum 64 per store. Limit 1 lithograph per RZ membership. No rainchecks. That is not a typo. The BB fine print uses the word “lithograph” sted “film collector’s book”.

--Best Buy also has a FREE BONUS DISC with the purchase of Seinfeld: Season 5 AND Seinfeld: Season 6, OR the Seinfeld: Season 5 & 6 gift set, OR the Seinfeld: Season 1 & 2 gift set. The picture of the disc on the ad says EXCLUSIVE CD. It’s 21 minutes of Jerry Seinfeld’s fuinniest stand-up comedy bits from all six seasons. Minimum 15 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy has another RewardZone Members-only promotion this week. A FREE LITHOGRAPH with the purchase of either the 1-disc or 2-disc versions of The Polar Express. Instantly. Minimum 180 per store. Limit one lithograph per RZ Program Membership. No rainchecks. Offer begins 11/22/05 and is available only to RZ Program Members. In store only. No dealers.

--Circuit City also has a FREE BONUS DISC with its Seinfeld sets, but it’s a DVD: a Seinfeld bonus DVD “A Taste of Great TV”. Available with the purchase of Seinfeld: Season 5 OR Seinfeld: Season 6 OR Seinfeld: Season 5 & 6 gift set. While supplies last. Minimum 10 per store.

--Circuit City has a FREE EXCLUSIVE BONUS DISC with the purchase of Aeon Flux: Complete Animated Collection. Includes animation from MTV’s Liquid Television. While supplies last. Minimum 5 per store.

--Circuit City also advertised in its Sunday flyers the release of The March of the Penguins ($16.99) for this week. But, MotP won’t be released until next week.

--Circuit City is also offering a deal on its season sets of Golden Girls and Home Improvement. Save $10 on the purchase of Golden Girls: Season 3 and either of the first two seasons of GG AND/OR save $10 on the purchase of Home Improvement: Season 3 and either of the first two seasons of HI. In-store only. Purchases must be on same receipt.

--Target has its own way of celebrating the release of the War of the Worlds (2005) release. They are selling the recent release of the 1953 version of War of the Worlds for just $4.99! What a deal!

--Target is also offering a FREE $5 Target GiftCard with the purchase of either Seinfeld: Season 5 OR Seinfeld: Season 6 OR Seinfeld: Season 5 & 6 gift set. GiftCard automatically given at register; no rain checks. I interpret that to mean if you buy Seinfeld: Seasons 5 AND Six separately, you’ll get TWO $5 GiftCards. But, that if you buy just the Seinfeld: Sesons 5 & 6 gift set you will get just ONE $5 GiftCard.

--Flyers are indicating that the new release of Cheaper By the Dozen: Baker’s Dozen Edition will include movie cash to see the sequel Cheaper By the Dozen 2 in theaters 12-21-2005. Up to $7.50 value. Movie cash valid 12-21-2005 through 1-21-2006 at participating theaters.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Thanks Mike. Wish I had a Best Buy for the Polar Express litho & the WOTW book. I'll be price matching Costco (or Sam's) at CC on Polar Express 2 disc & Best Buy on WOTW 2 disc LE. Almost double dipped for the unrated AVP but the HTF review convinced me to stick with the original release of it.

I don't understand the point of the Warner Brothers Mega Classics Collection? What fan of classic films doesn't already have a bunch of these? And what casual fan would lay out $3,000 in one shot? What is the market for this?

From here on out I have to avoid buying most new releases because I'm probably going to get several for Christmas. Then I'll have to play catch-up in January (when I'm not in a theater watching "King Kong," that is ).

Regarding Black Friday - any way to tell if the prices will get better or worse if you wait until Friday?

In any case, another busy week:

Andy Griffith Season 4
Home Improvement Season 3 (despite the fact that their overalapping disc configuration needs a major improvement )
The Polar Exrpess
Seinfeld Seasons 5 & 6

Thanks as usual.

Yeah Pretty Big Week

I was'nt gonna get the Tin but I think fro Best Buy's Special Deal I cannot Pass it Up, I Start my vacation Tuesday so I think I'll take a Break from playing my New Xbox 360 and head over early to pick it up. Along with the Single Disk War of the Worlds, and Polar Express 2 Disk. I also Want the X files Mythology Set 4.

I'm gonna wait to Hear some reviews on Beaver. I've been burned too many times by Universal, I'll probably get it eventually...

Thanks, Mike. I'm liking that Target price on the King Kong 2-discer. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do about Seinfeld's seasons. I want the gift set again, but the individual seasons are tempting at Target at $30 a piece, especially if you get a $5 GC for each (which, if you do separate orders, I don't see how they can deny you).

Although I haven't seen CC's ad, I'm guessing that's supposed to say MTV's Liquid Television, since MTV is the network on which Liquid Television aired.
