JVC AV30W475 at CC

Circuit City has this 30 inch widescreen TV for only $380. Not a bad price I think.

Seems like a pretty good deal, but it's not an HD or ED set, it's just 16:9 SD.

No it is not HD, but a good second TV to have.

BUT, after viewing it for a few hours, I am sorry to say that the geometry and convergence on this unit both suck. In "narrow" mode with the bars on the sides, everything is okay, but for the "normal" widescreen mode, it seems that all the TV does is stretch the edges of the screen. It displays almost identically to the "panorama" mode, in which the edges are purposely stretched to fill the screen. I have e-mailed JVC to see if they can fix this. If not I will return it.

If you are a more casual viewer than I am, you might like the set. My girlfriend did not notice this "defect" until I pointed it out to her.

Although the TV does not handle progressive scan mode, 480i still looks pretty darn impressive I must say. I am torn on this one because I bought it for a good price, and DVDs sure look great, but that geometry might be a deal-breaker.
