Pioneer DVD player freezing with some .avi movies

Hey guys,
I have a relatively new Pioneer DVD player which has a USB input, so I can download .avi movies off the net, transfer them onto a USB stick and play them through.

Now the problem is some movies freeze. So much so that I have to pull out the power plug of the DVD player to reboot.

The info:
A certain movie will ALWAYS freeze, and another movie will never freeze. (ie, movie A will freeze each time it is played, where as movie B will never freeze)

I re-downloaded movies that freeze, and they will still freeze, and I used different USB sticks etc and the movie will still freeze.

I played the movies on PC and they work.

What could this be? It's really frustrating

Re: Pioneer DVD player freezing with some .avi movies

It could be a lot of things, but since the vast majority of films on the net in AVI format are unauthorized copies, I'm afraid this can't be discussed here. Please see the HTF Rules, specifically Rule 5.

If it turns out that we're dealing with the rare exception (and thare are some) of films in AVI format that are authorized to be posted on the net, please send me an email or private message with a link to the film(s) in question, and I'll be happy to reopen this thread. Thanks!
